Audi ventures into the subcompact segment of the A1 prototype project.

 

This is an attractive concept based on a three-door car with four seats, which merges a strong dynamism in avant-garde design with optimum economy of space and the highest quality.

 

The body of the Audi A1 project takes advantage of the exceptionally compact surface area of a vehicle in the premium compact class road. With a length of 3.91 m, a width of 1.75 m and 2.46 m of a battle, its short overhangs allow you to combine a sporting image with high levels of economy of space. These measures have become a reality thanks to the transverse mounting of the engine. The height of the vehicle, 1.40 m, provides a considerable space at the height of the head, even in the rear seats.

 

The interior of the Audi A1 is well structured, with four individual seats and a surprisingly generous offer of space in its class. An arc envelope (called wraparound) acts as a link between the doors and the cockpit.

 

Round instruments and air diffusers, also round, evoke some of the cockpit of a classic sports car like the Audi TT.

 

The Audi A1 project has under its bonnet a TFSI four cylinder with 1.4 liters displacement and turbocharged by overfeeding. This engine is an evolution of the propellant which debuted in the Audi A3. While in the latter model yields the 1.4 TFSI 125 hp (92 kW), the prototype reached 150 hp (110 kW) at 5,500 rpm. This engine offers maximum torque of 240 Nm over a wide speed range that goes from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm.

 

Despite the sporting (0-100 km / h in 7.8 seconds, top speed 201 km / h), this prototype consumes only 4.9 liters of fuel to the Super 100 km, while CO2 emissions are only 112 g / km.
